PERSONALIZED CEREMONIES
Welcome to Personalized Ceremonies! You've come to the right place for your wedding officiant!
My name is Rev. Barry Hobbs. My wife, Jan, and I are non-denominational wedding officiants located in Spokane Valley, Washington, officiating weddings in Washington and Idaho.
With Personalized Ceremonies, you have a gender choice for your wedding officiant. We specialize in non-denominational wedding ceremonies, large or small, in the states of Washington and Idaho. We work with the prospective bride and groom during a consultation to help them select the perfect wedding ceremony that is just right for them. We ask for a 50% deposit at that time to hold the time and date.We realize that this is a busy world that we live in and if you live too far away or don't have the time for a consultation, we can put the ceremony together by email. We do this quite often. Short notice and last minute weddings accomodated if we have the time open.
We officiate weddings within a 60 mile radius of Spokane, farther with travel allowance (up to 100 miles). Generally, when one of us is not available, the other one is. Founded in 2003, we have each performed hundreds of marriages in 3 states and have the experience and expertise to assure you that your wedding ceremony will be professionally performed. Weddings are all that we do as officiants and they are what we know best. We do not do weddings in tandem, but give you a gender choice for your officiant with one email or phone call.
We have many types of ceremonies, including Unity Candle, Sand Ceremony, Knot Ceremony, Wine Ceremony, etc. for you to choose from. Choose from religious, semi-religious, or non-religious ceremonies as well.
**A note about rehearsals: We know that many officiants will attend rehearsals (for a fee!). Normally, we don't. The reason is that when we started this business in 2003, we did attend them, but found that all we did as the officiant is to just stand around and basically do nothing. The rehearsal is an old tradition and is mainly to choreograph what the wedding party will do on your wedding day. It is usually a fun time for family and friends and ends with a rehearsal dinner. We were even asked to attend rehearsals where there wasn't even a rehearsal done. Everybody just had a good time. The actual ceremony is never performed at a rehearsal! Now, if the wedding ceremony turns out to be very complicated and our presence is indeed needed, then we will happily attend to help smooth out the procedure. Generally this is not the case. Out of 100's of weddings, our attendance at a rehearsal was really required about twice! We aren't wedding planners or coordinators. We always arrive at the wedding venue 1/2 hour early on the big day and tie in with the DJ, photographer, wedding planner, etc. to make sure we all work together smoothly. We'll find the groom (usually visiting with arriving guests) and make sure that nothing important is forgotten (rings, paperwork, etc.) and that there are no changes that we need to be aware of. We have never encountered a procedural problem that we couldn't solve before the ceremony.
So, in lieu of attending the rehearsal, we give each of our brides a comprehensive rehearsal guide covering all aspects of rehearsals. It covers the tradition, processional and recessional procedures and advice garnered from mistakes we've seen occur over the years. It will answer most, if not all of your rehearsal questions.
Give us a call at 509-928-7288 (cell: 509-847-5749) to arrange a consultation or send us an email to get things started.

Here is an email received recently from a happy bride:
Barry,
I just again wanted to say thank you for the beautiful ceremony. I have heard only great things about how it was done. I really appreciate the time you spent on it to make sure it was exactly how Sean and I wanted it. We will definitely refer any of our friends and family your way. Thank you again.
